How Video Watermarks Work
- Text watermarks are rendered by FFmpeg's drawtext filter: font, size, color, outline, shadow, position, and rotation are all filter parameters, baked in during a single encode.
- The key word is "baked": the watermark becomes part of the picture, independent of any player or subtitle track — it survives playback, screenshots, and re-uploads. The flip side: it can't be removed later, so decide before you export.
- Motion watermarks vary the position over time t (scrolling, bouncing, etc.), which requires computing the position for every frame — rendering takes much longer than a static watermark.
